Siege of Orison has returned to the Alpha 4.10 PTU, but with a massive twist. Cloud Imperium Games (CIG) has completely rebuilt this legendary event, transforming it into Star Citizen's very first instanced co-op FPS dungeon. Say goodbye to the old server-wide public event format—here is everything you need to know about the new mechanics, rewards, current PTU bugs, and the estimated live release.
1. What’s New & How It Works (Full Overview)
The biggest upgrade in Alpha 4.10 is the introduction of Mission Instancing technology. When you and your party accept the contract, the game spins up a private, isolated zone just for your group. You no longer have to worry about external players griefing, stealing your loot, or interfering with your mission progress.
- Pure FPS Focus (No Ships): Air combat and flying between platforms have been entirely removed. The event focuses strictly on tactical FPS warfare across three platforms within the Inspiration Park cluster.
- How to Start: Head over to the Crusader Showroom building in Orison (Cloudview Center), which now serves as the official staging hub. The Party Leader accepts the priority contract via the MobiGlas Contract Manager to generate your private instance.
- Mission Flow: Your team must clear out Nine Tails pirates, reset the Security Network Control Towers, assassinate the regional Lieutenant, and disable the local IFFI jamming systems on each island.
- The Grand Finale: Everything builds up to an epic boss fight against Mendo Ren inside the administration center on the barge.
2. Rewards (Loot & aUEC)
The new instanced structure ensures much better progression and guaranteed loot that you can actually extract with:
- The New Arsenal: Inside the instance, you can loot the latest weapons introduced in 4.10, including the devastating Apocalypse Arms Vendetta HMG (heavy rotary machine gun) and the new Arlington Lever Action Rifle (a versatile rifle featuring both DMR and shotgun fire modes).
- Super-Heavy Armor: Players can scavenge the brand-new BUL-H4 super-heavy armor sets and specialized ammunition backpacks directly off elite Nine Tails heavy gunners.
- Guaranteed Payouts: On top of a massive chunk of aUEC for completing the final boss, the instanced system awards clean, progressive bonuses per cleared platform without any split payouts among random server players.
3. Current Issues in the PTU
Because instancing is a brand-new backend technology for Star Citizen, the current PTU testing phases are experiencing some teething issues:
- Staging Door Bugs: A frequent bug prevents the instance transition doors or elevators from opening if the party gets separated or if the server backend lags.
- Desync & AI Teleporting: While the AI is noticeably more aggressive and tactical in 4.10, network desync can still cause enemies to teleport or fail to register hitboxes correctly.
- Mission Activation Failures: Occasionally, the contract fails to track properly upon entering the staging area. Workaround: If the instance bricks, the whole party needs to relog and re-form the group.
- Party Size Limits: Current PTU instances are heavily optimized and locked to groups of 2 to 4 players to monitor server stability.
4. When Will It Launch to the Live PU?
While the overhauled Siege of Orison was originally planned for Alpha 4.9, CIG delayed it to stabilize the foundational instancing tech. Alpha 4.10 is currently undergoing intensive PTU playtests to stress-test the backend servers.
If the upcoming stability patches successfully resolve the door blockages and critical collision bugs, Alpha 4.10 and the new Siege of Orison are expected to hit the Live (PU) servers by late August or early September 2026.
